Synopsis: Family comedy adventure; live-action with computer-animated chipmunk characters. The Chipmunks are a big hit in the music industry, but when their owner is hospitalised they have to attend school. There they meet the Chipettes, a female group whom music promoter Hawke wants to make bigger than the Chipmunks. When a big music contest offers enough money to keep the school's music department open, the Chipmunks and Chipettes go head-to-head to represent the school. But when Hawke sees a different opportunity for making money out of his act, he traps them in a cage and disaster looms.
